Texas’ Ward & Smith Named Fortune 500 “Go-To” Intellectual Property Law Firm

LONGVIEW, Texas – The Texas law firm Ward & Smith is being recognized in the upcoming listing of “Go-To” law firms for Fortune 500 companies based on the firm’s high-level courtroom work in intellectual property cases.

Ward & Smith is one of the few law firms in the nation to be honored in the upcoming 2013 Go-To Law Firms for the Top 500 Companies list, which will be distributed in the April editions of The American Lawyer and Corporate Counsel magazines.

The annual listing is based on nominations from in-house attorneys at Fortune 500 companies who are asked to identify their “go-to” law firms. Ward & Smith earned selection to the 2013 list based on the firm’s work in intellectual property litigation and client recommendations submitted by consumer products giant General Electric Co. and worldwide pharmaceutical manufacturer Allergan Inc.

“Being included in this list is particularly gratifying since we were recognized based on actual work we handled for both companies,” says Ward & Smith founder T. John “Johnny” Ward Jr. “We work hard for our clients, and it’s nice to know they think enough of our efforts to place us on this list alongside some of the biggest law firms in the country.”

Mr. Ward has served as the lead trial attorney in more than 30 jury trials. He and the other attorneys at Ward & Smith regularly represent clients in significant intellectual property cases, including extensive work in jury trials in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas and other venues throughout the state.

Longview, Texas-based Ward & Smith has earned a national reputation in high-stakes cases involving complex commercial litigation, intellectual property law, oil & gas disputes, and serious personal injury claims. Ward & Smith frequently assists lawyers nationwide in complex cases before East Texas juries.
