Ward, Smith & Hill Of Counsel T. John Ward recently received inclusion in the Texas Bar Foundation’s 2022 Outstanding 50-Year Lawyer Award for his dedication and service to the legal profession. Texas Lawbook interviewed Judge Ward on his career and building the reputation of the Eastern District of Texas known as the “rocket docket.”
“I get credit,” Judge Ward said, “for having this great insight into how to build a patent docket” – or, as it’s typically described, a rocket docket.
“The truth is, I had no such insight. I just wanted to manage my docket as efficiently as possible.”
