Longview’s Ward & Smith Home to Two of Texas’ Top Young Lawyers

LONGVIEW, Texas – The publishers of Texas Rising Stars once again are recognizing the expertise of two lawyers on the deep roster of legal talent at the Texas law firm Ward & Smith.

Longview attorneys Claire Abernathy Henry and Wesley Hill are featured on the 2014 Texas Rising Stars list of top young attorneys. The complete list appears in the April issues of Texas Monthly and Texas Rising Stars magazines.

Ms. Henry and Mr. Hill earned their third and fourth appearances, respectively, among the state’s top young lawyers based on their work in intellectual property matters. Every Ward & Smith partner has been selected to either the Texas Rising Stars list or the companion Texas Super Lawyers list.

“Based on the work we regularly see Claire and Wes handling for clients, it’s not surprising to see them named among the state’s best in 2014,” says Ward & Smith founder T. John “Johnny” Ward Jr. “Their recent recognition is proof of our continuing goal to provide clients with the top legal talent anywhere.”

Both the Texas Rising Stars and Texas Super Lawyers lists are based on nominations from other Texas lawyers and an extensive editorial review. Texas Rising Stars honors the state’s top lawyers under the age of 40 and those who have been practicing law for no more than 10 years.

Ms. Henry represents clients in patent and commercial litigation cases in both state and federal courts. A former briefing attorney at the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, she graduated from Stanford Law School in 2005 after earning her undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University in 2002.

A fellow Eastern District veteran, Mr. Hill handles a wide range of intellectual property claims and commercial litigation cases involving contract disputes, oil & gas law, and federal criminal statutes. He is a 2001 graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law. He secured his undergraduate degree from the University of Texas at Tyler in 1998.

Longview, Texas-based Ward & Smith has tried more than 350 cases to verdict, earning a national reputation in high-stakes claims involving complex commercial litigation, intellectual property law, oil & gas matters, and serious personal injuries. Ward & Smith frequently assists lawyers nationwide in complex cases before East Texas juries.
